Day One Sunday, June 8
4:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Check in at Troutt Theater
(Dinner on your own)
6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Introduction, Troutt Theater
(first performance of one aria)
7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Music Rehearsal for Assigned Scenes
Program in the Troutt Theater-all music must be memorized for this run through! All workshop members will attend music rehearsal to observe.

Day Two Monday, June 9
9:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Body and Breath by Dr. Kate Al Shamma, pro­fessor of movement and voice at Belmont University-all workshop members will participate onstage in the Troutt Theater. *
10:45 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Break
11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Audition Masterclass
The master class will be held in the Troutt Theater. Performers will be prepared to sing one aria. Audition techniques are critiqued by John Hoomes & Steve Aiken. Discussion on “how to make a good first impression” and “how to get your second job.”
12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Blocking of Scenes –
Scene A-onstage in the Troutt Theater with John Hoomes.
Scene B-coaching session with accompanist and Steve Aiken in Wilson Music Building (WMB) 121.
Scene C-coaching session with accompanist and Carol Penterman in the Black Box Theater.
Auditors will be able to choose a room and observe the coaching and blocking process.
3:00 p.m.-3:15 p.m. Break
3:15 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Blocking of Scenes – Scene B with John Hoomes, onstage in the Troutt Theater.
All other performers and auditors will attend The Next Step with Steve Aiken: Agents, Auditions and moving to New York City – how to evaluate and make the right choices for the next step in your career.
Session location is the Black Box Theater.

Day Three Tuesday, June 10
9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Alexander Technique w/Dr. Christine Isley-Farner, onstage in the Troutt Theater. All workshop members will attend. * The Alexander Technique is a corrective method which focuses on body alignment and replacing destructive habits with healthy balance, support, and coordination of the body.
11:00 a.m.-11:15 a.m. Break
11:15 a.m. -Noon Taxes for Self-Employed Singers with Judy Tygard and all workshop members in the Troutt Theater. Ms. Tygard prepares taxes for many performing artists in Nashville. She has extensive knowledge of the issues singing professionals will face in the first few years of their careers.
Noon -1:00 p.m. Lunch
1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Blocking of Scenes – Scene C with John Hoomes onstage in the Troutt Theater
1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Opera Production 101 with Carol Penterman and Steve Aiken in the Black Box Theater.
3:00-3:45 p.m. Break
3:45-5:15 p.m. Continue staging for Scenes Program with John Hoomes onstage in the Troutt Theater as follows:
3:45-4:15 p.m. Scene A
4:15-4:45 p.m. Scene B
4:45-5:15 p.m. Scene C
3:45-5:15 p.m. Movement to Period Dance by Dr. Kate Al Shamma in the Black Box Theater. All performers not in scene work and workshop members will attend. *

Day Four Wednesday, June 11
9:30-10:45 a.m. Stage Combat with David Wilkerson, Certified Fight Choreographer. Class will meet onstage in the Troutt Theater. All workshop members will attend. *
As a professional fight choreographer, Mr. Wilkerson has trained actors and singers in the basics of stage combat. Topics to be covered in the workshop are punching, slapping, falling and the safe handling of weapons.
10:45-11:00 am Break
11:00-Noon Continuing with Stage Combat
Noon-1:00 pm Lunch
1:00-3:00 pm Final Dress for Scenes Program-
Everyone will attend dress for all scenes.
3:00-3:15 pm Break
3:15-5:00 pm Performance of Scenes (with invited audience)
5:15 pm wrap up and END
